Some good news…

This afternoon Cheryl received a job offer from the University of Florida. Sometime next week she will begin working as the Senior Clerk for the Graduate Admissions Office.

It’s only a part-time job, but we’re happy to be able to bring some money into the house while I continue my search for steady income. It seems like a really great opportunity for her/us. Who knows, it could lead to something full-time for her down the road, or possibly enable either one of us to continue our education affordably. At the very least it will serve as a stopgap for us during this transitioning period.

Many of the people that we’ve talked to here in Gainesville have said that it’s very difficult to get hired at the University. Her previous experience with the Admissions Department at Nyack College certainly helped. And given the fact that she hasn’t been in the workplace for nearly four years, I’m proud of her for being able to maintain a level of professionalism that would make a major university interested in hiring her.

  1. Congrats on the new job for your wife! Praise God for steady income…I have no idea what that’s like. What do you do?

  2. Well… I wanted to do church-planting. But that didn’t work out so well here in Florida (looooong story). So, now I’m looking for a “regular” job. My background is in marketing.

(Frankly, I don’t know what “steady” income looks like either. I’ll let you know when I do!)
