Porn, Pro Wrestling and… Christian Rock?

What do you get when you mix a bunch of ’80s WWF stars, porn star Ron Jeremy and Christian metal band Stryper?

Well, I would call it unfathomable awesomeness – but they’re calling it Unscripted 2007.

On Saturday, April 28th in Atlanta, GA the folks from XXXChurch.com are teaming up with World Impact Wrestling for the event. The lineup includes wrestling matches featuring “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, and Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake. The event also includes a “special appearance” by “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, a porn debate between Ron Jeremy and XXXChurch.com’s founder Craig Gross and a performance by the “Yellow and Black Attack” – the one and only STRYPER! Fans will also have a chance to meet all the participants after the event.

If you can’t tell… I’m stoked! (And yes, I am listening to Stryper’s “In God We Trust” as I write this!!) With ringside seats a mere $24 I may just have to make that six-hour roadie to Atlanta. Of course, I’ll probably be making it alone.

I think this event is a stroke of pure genius on the part of XXXChurch.com. They’re bringing in a bunch of big name wrestlers from years past, the biggest name in the porn industry, and STRYPER! Wrestling, porn and metal… it’s the perfect storm! The sheer nostalgia of it all is enough to bring people out of the woodwork. And by attending they will not only get a chance to see some wrestling icons, they will hear a thought provoking debate about pornography and the testimony of Ted DiBiase.

Bringing Jesus to the most unlikely of places… with Stryper! My friends, that does not suck.

  1. I was on a shuttle bus from the airport last week and heard the song “Honestly” by Stryper (true story). I was laughing to myself. Teen groups everywhere will remember that song and standing around the campfire singing it. One time I was in a Christian bookstore with my mom and some other kids tried to shop lift the newest Stryper tape (In God We Trust). My mom totally caught them and told the manager of the store. While I was embarrassed to no end, I couldn’t get over the irony of people stealing Stryper…..from a Christian bookstore….

  2. This is probably off topic, but when I was attending a Christian college in the metro-NY area I once heard the guys who service the vending machines tell someone that our school had far more cases of vandalism and theft of the machines than other schools in the area. I always found that sad and ironic.

Remember how controversial Stryper was back in the day? “To Hell With the Devil?” What did they say??!!?
