When is the last time you saw this from a presidential candidate?

  1. A cynic might say that he was merely attempting to solidify his standing with conservative evangelicals and those on the right side of the (imaginary) “war on Christmas.”

But I typically think Huck’s a pretty genuine guy.

  2. The Drudge Report has this video featured at the top of their home page. Beneath it they have the following quote, which they (errantly) attribute to Ron Paul.

“When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”

Paul may have said it, but if he did he was most certainly quoting Sinclair Lewis.

  3. Speaking of Huckabee…

Huckabee, Giuliani tied in 2008 Republican race

DES MOINES, Iowa (Reuters) – Mike Huckabee has surged into a virtual tie with front-runner Rudy Giuliani in the national 2008 Republican presidential race two weeks before the first contest, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas whose campaign has caught fire in recent weeks, wiped out an 18-point deficit in one month to pull within one point of Giuliani, 23 percent to 22 percent.

To be honest, I’m amazed. I like Huckabee and all, but he just doesn’t come across very “Presidential.” He seems more like a really cool Sunday School teacher than a legit Presidential candidate to me.

I’m guessing there are two factors:

    1) The Jesus card is working its usual magic. Especially against the womanizer and the Mormon.

    2) The GOP crop is just awful this season! Huckabee should win by default because he’s the only one who’s halfway likeable.
