Barack Obama – Call to Renewal Keynote Address

obama.jpg

In July of 2006, Sen. Barack Obama was invited to speak at Call to Renewal, a conference of Evangelical leadership that was put on by Sojourners. During his keynote address he spoke of his Christian faith and how it shapes his approach to policy making. He also discussed the relationship between faith and politics and the role faith should play in political discourse in a pluralistic society.

I’ve listened to the speech several times over the past few weeks. I think it has alot to offer those who may be struggling to reconcile their feelings about faith and politics.

  1. I believe I saw this on video last week. I was so impressed with how he didn’t speak in soundbites and didn’t try to get applause and was even a bit annoyed when people cheered before he had his point made. Clearly intelligent and thoughtful. Oh he’s doomed.
