  1. Well, as I put it earlier today to another friend of mine. We’ve got a long way before we hit land, but at least the boat has left the dock.

Next step is to have our lawyer go over the mortgage commitment with us and schedule the closing date.

New York State still requires some things from us – verify this, inspect that, dot this “i” and cross that “t”. But our hope is now that we’ve cleared this most significant hurdle, we can expedite this process so we don’t end up homeless come September 1.

  2. Thanks! And thanks for giving me a reason to quote Mitch Hedberg!

When I play the South, they say “y’all” in the South. They take out the “O” and the “U”. So when I’m in the South I try to talk like that so people understand me. “Hello, can I have a bowl of chicken noodle s-p? Come on, I’m in the South, you understand. I mean I’m in the S-th, and I want some s-p!” “I stubbed my toe, -ch!” “I need to lay down on the c-ch!”

  3. Ha! We are selling our house after only two years. It’s a great house, but we just aren’t house people. It has taken us years to discover this. We don’t like to mow, fix and maintain a house. But we were soooo hell-bent on buying a house because of a foreclosure, it’s like we had to prove something to ourselves or do that for mental healing or something. Now that we have one, we want an apartment. We aint right, Shane, incase y’all haven’t noticed 😉

With owning a house it’s a good feeling and investment – to know that it’s yours, to invest in real estate! And there are people that enjoy landscaping and taking care of their homes.
    Best wishes!

  4. Austin is beautiful! Lots to do and look at! Google hippy hollow 😉 Alvin is so flippin ugly, but my family is here. After we sell our house, we want to move to Clear Lake on the water, that way we will still be semi-close to our family.

  5. Selena,

I’m from Ft Worth but lived in central TX for a whiel and went to college in Abilene. My husband is the Aggie in our family. He is from Bryan. So you live in Nolan Ryan’s hometown.

Austin is fun. But San Antonio is very pretty. The Texas Hill country is pretty in the springtime. Love the bluebonnets.

  6. TDeeZ,
Yes, the last time I saw Nolan Ryan was the night I got induced with labor. Every one was making a big deal over him at the Busy Bee Cafe waving, etc. I just wanted the man to move out of our way so we could be seated. I was a little, pregnant oompla loompa that was ready to get her hamburger steak smothered with gravy on! Last super before being induced. I went to school with his kids. The oldest one was a shameless flirt who thought he could have anyone he wanted. He couldn’t!

San Antonio is another nice place. I love the river walk! This October we are going to South Padre for a week, that’s another good place!

  7. “And I would parachute in and insist on being airlifted out.”

And I would make a special trip to Austin solely to see that!

You couldn’t handle Texas anyway with y’alls deadgum yankee accents and whatnot! Not to mention going in to shock the first time you had a taste of what REAL Mexican food is all about instead of that bland cooking…
