Porn-Again Christian

Mark Driscoll is releasing a new book titled Porn-Again Christian: A Frank Discussion on Pornography and Masturbation as a free web download. The book is being made available one chapter at a time. Once the entire book has been posted online it will be made available in its entirety as a PDF download.

You can read the first chapter “A Tall Glass of Toilet Water” here.

Here’s some of what Mark had to say about the book:

… some years ago I sat down and in one day wrote a small booklet about male sexuality that we published in-house. Since then we have gone through thousands of copies and literally cannot keep it in stock. I asked some Christian publishers if they wanted it, and they said it was too hot to handle and so they declined.

… a lot of folks will not like the content or tone of this book and I love them and wish them well. You get what you pay for and this is free. Two, a lot of young guys (and some older guys too) tell me they have been helped by this content and if God uses it to help some guys I would be overjoyed with that. So, let the critics fire away and I’ll gladly take the shots for the guys who are walking wounded in an effort to help them get their shield up and sword sharpened.

  1. I love the way Driscoll is tackling the idol of sexual sin head-on. Between this and The Peasant Princess, his current sermon series on Song of Songs, he’s offering up a lot of material to combat the world’s monopoly on sexuality.

  2. not that i will read it, but i think that’s great, cause like josh is saying so often people of morality and conviction are afraid to take on these kinds of topics, when they are SO necessary.

  3. interesting. but, like i’ve said before about the whole xxx church, it just makes me think about porno. i need like complete separation! it’s like a drunk walking into a liquor store 🙂

  4. @Tim: A more accurate analogy would maybe be a drunk walking into an AA meeting. But I get your point. 😆

@Josh: I haven’t been listening to his “The Peasant Princess” series, but he did mention that he decided to release this book in conjunction with that teaching. I’ll have to check it out.
