The 12 Tunes of Christmas – Day 1

A Very Rosie Christmas gets my vote for Christmas album of the year – hands down. I love her rendition of “Christmas Don’t Be Late” by Alvin & The Chipmunks, and her version of “Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel” is downright stunning.

This anthemic tune seemed like the right fit to kick off this year’s countdown. So “hang that mistletoe and grab your favorite girl” because we’ve got some great music ahead to help get  you in the Christmas mood!

  1. have you seen her stand-up? she has this character she does…kind of funny. but as a musician, amazing. love love love ms. thomas. if the joke that denison witmer made up about her & sufjan having a baby were true, that kid would be the greatest human being ever!

  2. i have also been loving rosie’s christmas album. between her, sufjan, and over the rhine, it’s musically been an amazing holiday season!

have you listened to sara groves’ new album? i loooove her version of ‘o holy night’ and she has an original song called ‘to be with you’ that i also like very much.

  3. There were a couple of her songs on the Blood: Water Mission CD that I downloaded from NoiseTrade that I thought were really good. I haven’t heard more from her Christmas album though.
