Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. Every year Cheryl and I travel downstate to enjoy a (downright glorious) meal with family and close friends. After gorging myself on turkey, candied yams and pie, I look forward to claiming my spot on the couch and watching football until I slip into a mild coma.
Greatest … holiday … ever.
In addition to enjoying time with friends and family around the table, I am hoping you’ll join us in doing something to bless “the least of these” this Thanksgiving.
The Open Door Mission is a ministry that provides food, clothing, emergency housing and the good news of the gospel to the homeless in Rochester. They serve over 100,000 meals per year to those living on our cold and violent streets. We have volunteered there in the past and have seen first-hand the work they do in ministering to the poorest of the poor in our community. It is a cause we wholeheartedly believe in.
For a donation of just $2.05 you can help them provide a meal for someone in need this Thanksgiving. It doesn’t seem like much of a sacrifice to make so that another human being doesn’t go hungry while we’re on an all-day food bender.
Will you please join me in blessing others in our city this Thanksgiving by donating a few bucks?
