Blue Like Jazz – Official Trailer

It’s been a long time coming, but fans of Donald Miller’s best selling book Blue Like Jazz are finally getting their first glimpse of the movie adaptation of the book.

Fans of the book may also notice that the trailer doesn’t remind them much of the book at all. The process of editing the book for the film is something that Miller wrote about extensively in his most recent book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years.

What are your thoughts? Does this look like something you’d spend money to see in theaters?

  1. I’m looking forward to it. The trailer reminds me if an indi-movie which might suit this book very well. I think the eclectic spiritual themes might actually make the movie a real market success if the acting and plot holds up.

  2. I’m actually not that thrilled with the “look” of the film. There’s a fine line between “cool indie” and “low budget.”

The vibe I feel from this is very similar to other Christian films I’ve seen. Poor production quality, sub-par acting. Might be a little campy too.

I’ll see it somewhere, somehow, at some point. But not sure I want to spend money on it in the theater.

  3. So it looks… trite. It looks like instead of making a more meaningful indie film they crossed Juno with that late 90’s Christian flick “Extreme Days”. It didn’t have to be high budget to be meaningful. 😦
